Our Services: Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring

Echo Services has introduced a new procedure in order to assist with diagnosing hypertension (high blood pressure).

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is designed to record blood pressure and heart rate for a 24-hour period using a blood pressure cuff attached to the upper arm. The information recorded is downloaded into a reader which is carried in a bag. The approach is similar to that used in a Holter monitor.

The 24-hour period provides distinct advantages over a one-time measurement, reducing the possibility of measurement errors.

The information obtained will help the doctor better manage blood pressure control and select the most appropriate blood pressure medication. This is especially important with blood pressure that is difficult to control or medication with possible side-effects. As such, blood pressure monitoring plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of high blood pressure.
